This week I want to talk about how to pick an affiliate or an influencer. Both can benefit your business, but sometimes figuring out the differences and determining which one will best serve your business can be difficult. Just like any area of marketing, it’s important to determine which one will work best for you.
When it comes to affiliates and influencers, there are two core factors to consider.
Budget plays a big role. Affiliates won’t cost you as much because they are driven by the number of clicks. Whether or not someone is clicking and purchasing is directly related to whether or not they benefit from the affiliate link. Influencers generally have a set amount of money that they are charging for the services that they will provide.
What is the difference when it comes to budget?
A good influencer I can range anywhere from $500 to a few thousand dollars. An influencer’s price will depend on their audience, their reach, and conversion rates. Influencers will typically have packages that they offer, or in some cases, they may be willing to negotiate on price in order to provide a tailored package for your business.
Affiliates generally do things blog-related, or might include your affiliate link or code throughout other content that they’re creating. Oftentimes this means long-term content. Affiliates can be great for long-term growth. If the affiliate is someone who loves your product and is invested in your brand, they’ll promote your products throughout their content over a longer period of time.
Influencers will often do things in campaign-styles. This typically means a larger burst of content to promote growth and drive traffic in a shorter period of time. Influencers can be great if you’re launching something new, promoting an event, or looking to boost sales on a specific product.
It’s important to look at these factors when determining whether an affiliate or an influencer will work best for your business.
